West country prices 'going up'

House prices in the south-west region have been driven up by an increasing number of people wanting to live or holiday there, an estate agent from the region has said.
Bradley Start, a partner at Start and Co, stated: "It appears that more and more people aspire to live, work and holiday in the south-west, particularly as it has never been easier, cheaper or quicker to get here."
A consequence of this had been to push up house prices in places such as St Ives, Padstow and Rock, which had become "ever more expensive", he commented.
Last month, HBOS produced figures showing that the south-west was the region with the highest net internal immigration in the UK in the past decade, at 441,000 extra residents.
Those prices out by such trends in the region may consider the alternative of self build.
