Yorkshire's proposed eco town 'under threat'

A shadow has been cast over proposals to ring in an eco town in the Leeds area.
Although shortlisted by the government as a possible site for an eco town, shadow housing minister Grant Shapps has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that the Tories will not support the plans if they are voted into power in the next general election.
"Whilst we have supported the principles underpinning them, it is becoming clear just how poorly thought through and unworkable the whole scheme is," he told the paper.
The publication also noted that the local council has had difficulty securing a potential site for an eco town.
Homeowners living in Yorkshire who want to secure themselves an eco-friendly house may wish to consider self build as an option to attain this goal.
Recently, the Campaign to Protect Rural England criticised the government's eco town plans and called for a major rethink.
