Zero carbon homes attracting lots of interest

Thousands of people in the UK are interested in buying a zero carbon home, according to one property expert.
Architectural practice ZEDfactory reports that it has seen a great rise in demand for zero carbon housing and that a third more people request it every year.
Bill Dunster, who founded the company, said: "We have very approximately about 2,000 people who have unsolicited asked to buy one of our zero carbon homes and only a tiny fraction of that demand is actually catered for each year."
The latest code issued by the government for sustainable home building says that 2016 is the deadline for all new builds to be zero carbon.
However, until that point homes may continue to have a very poor carbon footprint and will require a plenteous supply of fossil fuels.
Mr Dunster says this is ridiculous "it should be mandatory in a year and half''s time" he said.
