Now You Too Can Build The Home of Your Dreams!
Sheffield Creates New Self Build Opportunity

The recent Government news awarding Sheffield City Council 'vanguard' status to deliver self-build sites as part of its ‘Right to Build’ scheme is good news for those wishing to continue to live and work in Sheffield, or indeed relocate and invest in the area, but how do you find out more about building an affordable home of your dreams?

On Saturday 22 November at Sheffield Town Hall, BuildStore – on behalf of Sheffield City Council - will be hosting a public Information Day giving an introduction to custom build, how it works and the finance options available. In addition to presentations and offering expert advice, the forum will also give Sheffield City Council a true indication into the level of interest of custom build in the area, so that they can make appropriate land available.  This is a must-do event for those wishing to either get on the property ladder or move up, and those interested in attending are requested to register in advance on www.buildstore.co.uk/sheffield/.

It is anticipated that the Sheffield Custom Build scheme will encompass a wide range of building projects, from single dwelling home to community and co-housing developments.  Being at the forefront of custom build since 2008 and as the UK’s leading provider of services for individual homebuilders – which includes exclusive self build, home improvement and renovation mortgages - BuildStore is ideally positioned to offer expert advice on this scheme.

In fact, self building is not a new concept to the residents of Sheffield, with over 600 specialist mortgage solutions provided by BuildStore alone, as experienced by Nether Edge self builder James Wragg.  Currently putting the finishing touches to his home (conveniently next to a pub!), James has taken just over nine months to build his new family home, achieving a projected profit of over £200,000.  “The great thing about BuildStore’s Accelerator Mortgage with the Newcastle Building Society is not only can you obtain funds to purchase land, it also provides advance stage payments during the build process. This not only helped with cash flow and gave me an affordable and manageable repayment plan but more importantly it allowed my family to remain living in our current home whilst our dream home was being built.”

Raymond Connor, Chief Executive, BuildStore Ltd, added: “With each site coming fully serviced and ready to build upon, you can do as much or as little as you desire, whether it’s getting hands-on with construction or simply deciding interior fixtures and fittings.  It’s a ‘win/win’ for those wishing to live in Sheffield & South Yorkshire as this gives them the opportunity to remain living in their community whilst creating the home of their dreams.”

The public Information Day will take place from 12-4pm at Sheffield Town Hall on Saturday 22nd November 2014 with the main presentation commencing at 1pm.  Details of the event and registration can be found on www.buildstore.co.uk/sheffield/.
