lived in Worcestershire and had been thinking about buying
a house before they got married. When scanning the local property
pages they saw four plots of land for sale in the small village
of Bredwardine, Herefordshire.
Although they felt they were not yet ready to ‘take
the plunge’ they decided to go and have a look at the
site. The plot was in an excellent location but at the time
Amanda was still a student so the couple reluctantly did not
pursue matters.
Soon afterwards they attended a self build exhibition at
the NEC, Birmingham and were hooked
on the idea of building their own home. It was at this show
the couple learned about the Accelerator Mortgage which was
the perfect solution to help them finance
a self build project.
Amanda finished her studies and soon afterwards one of the
plots was re-advertised. The couple moved quickly and managed
to secure the plot. The land had detailed planning permission,
however the couple enlisted the help of Amanda’s father
who is a Civil Engineer to make some amendments to the plans
which were agreed to by the Planning Authority.
The couple chose a Taylor Lane timber frame house and with
the help of Amanda’s father employed local sub-contractors.
The project took only 3 months to complete and the result
is a stunning four bedroom house with picturesque views of
the surrounding woods and trees.
David Carter: “We were really happy
with the way things worked out. Accelerator was fantastic.
We were able to meet the cost of our timber frame kit through
the Accelerator Mortgage
as it provided us with funds up front. Due to the advanced
stage payments we always had money available throughout the
build to pay for materials and labour. We would certainly
like to build again and have just registered with Plotsearch
to find hat elusive plot!”
