Underwriter

In line with increased demand in the sector, BuildStore are now looking to recruit an experienced underwriter to join their mortgage underwriting team.

You will be responsible for assessing and submitting accurate decision in principle requests to our panel of lenders and carrying out underwriting assessments of applications. You will work proactively with brokers, applicants and lenders, and provide supporting financial and project documentation in line with requirements. You will retain overall case responsibility and achieve high standards of application submission to achieve mortgage offers within the agreed timescales.

At BuildStore we work a 37.5hr week Monday to Friday.

• Be a competent user of Microsoft office and confidence in using bespoke IT systems.
• Have the ability to follow processes with a high level of accuracy.
• Be able to review complex financial documentation and ensure each application meets the chosen lender’s criteria
• Be able to plan and organise your workload effectively to meet client expectations.
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills ensuring contact with clients / brokers and lenders is clear, professional and fully updated on systems.
• Have the ability think creatively and offer feedback as and when required.

An immediate start is available but we appreciate that notice may have to be served.

This role will be based from our office in Livingston, however, once fully trained we do operate a hybrid approach with a mix of office-based and homeworking so a commutable distance will be necessary. All role specific requirements will be delivered in person and you will therefore be fully office based for the initial 8 weeks as a minimum.
