Site insurance |
| Site insurance
is essential cover for the self builder and no project should
be embarked on without it. Good site insurance will cover
the following: |
- Public liability – to provide cover in the event
of damage to third party property or injury to any person
(except employees) whilst on your site.
Public liability claims can arise in many ways. It is worth
bearing in mind that injury claims can occur following injury
to visitors or even trespassers to your site and that property
claims can arise from damage to underground services or
to neighbouring property.
- Employer’s liability – to provide cover in
respect of injury to “employees”. Claims can
arise not only following injury to employees but also to
labour-only sub contractors on your site.
- Contract works – to protect your investment against
damage to or theft of materials on your site and damage
to the building in the course of construction.
